Enlighten Girls

Our girls participated in the Enlighten girls mentoring programme which focussed on positive self talk, indentifying what is right and what is not, learning how to cope with pressure and balance home, school etc. How to establish relationships dealing with negative stereotyping and media. It was for all girls over three days for yr 9-13.
A good time was had by all.

1st XV

On Saturday we played against a very committed team from Rutherford High School. They travelled all the way from west Auckland with the intention of giving our boys a real challenge. The first half was very close, it finished with us ahead by 14-3, Rutherford having applied more pressure than any of our previous opponents had. To our team’s credit they remained focused on the game plan that we had and their skill and fitness allowed us to pull away and finish winners by 61-8. It was a true team effort and one that was achieved through application and faith in the systems that we have in place.

Again the team would like to say a  big thank you to all staff who attended the game, your support and encouragement means a lot to the boys. The team make mention of the kind words and encouragement that staff members pass onto them , this really helps us in supporting the boys to meet their attendance targets.

Special thanks to the wonderful team that help to organise our after match meal, Shauna, Fawn and their team enable our team to share with visiting schools in an experience that is uniquely special to 1st XV rugby. The opportunity to sit, eat and socialise with the visiting team, coaches, managers and parents is something we all cherish.

Our next game is this Saturday at home against Green Bay High School kick off is at 12pm.

1st XV results

Another strong performance from our boys resulted in a 78-3 win against Sancta Maria College on Saturday. We played an exciting style of rugby, used the ball well and defended strongly. To Sancta Maria’s credit they never stopped trying, however our boys commitment to keeping them tryless meant that they were unable to cross our line. It was pleasing to see that the tactics we worked on in training were able to be used during the game.

A big thank you to all staff who attended the game, your support and encouragement means a lot to the boys. The team make mention of the kind words and encouragement that staff members pass onto them , this really helps us in supporting the boys to meet their attendance targets.

Our next game is this Saturday at home against Rutherford College, kick off is at 12pm.
